New catalogue of photos from the Baugeschichtliches Archiv on E-Pics
To mark the 140th anniversary of its foundation, the Baugeschichtliches Archiv der Stadt Zürich (external link) is rendering around 100,000 photographs from its photographic collection (external link) publicly available for free download as a catalogue on ETH Library's platform E-Pics.
The collection of images is a key source on Zurich's history and predominantly documents various interior and exterior shots of buildings, roads, squares, parks and natural areas all over the City of Zurich.
The photographs range from the present day back to the mid-19th century and thus show the development of the city over several decades in a fascinating way based on individual places or buildings.
By publishing the images on the platform E-Pics, the collection from the Baugeschichtliches Archiv is transformed into a treasure trove for architects, building and art historians and anyone interested in local history or the City of Zurich.
E-Pics (external link) is ETH Zurich's platform for images, photographs and illustrations. It serves ETH Zurich's units as a tool for the management, archiving and online publication of image documents. E-Pics is an ETH Library service.
