New information by the SNSF on Data Management Plans (DMP) and Open Research Data (ORD)

As of October, data management plans are mandatory for each new project funding application submitted to the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).

On September 12, the SNSF has published further information and updated the relevant FAQs. Among other topics, the following aspect is now explicitly stated:

  • The management plans do not need to be finalised by the submission deadline.
  • They are drafts and do not bear on the project evaluation.

Some answers will only be forthcoming in the coming months and years, as it is "a learning process for everyone involved", says Aysim Yilmaz, who is responsible for ORD at the SNSF.

Updated information is available from the SNSF website (external link).

Support for the topic of Data Management is additionally provided by the Digital Curation Office of the ETH Library.
