Aim of the project
Scientific journals are to be retrospectively digitized and made freely accessible on the platform retro.seals.ch.
Description of the project
In close cooperation with the ETH-Bibliothek, the Consortium of Swiss Academic Libraries is digitizing scientific journals that were previously only available in physical format, and is making them freely accessible on the Internet. The project is thus responding to an existing need on the part of the issuing companies, the university libraries and, not least, the users.
In addition to the actual digitization, which is being carried out externally or at the ETH-Bibliothek, the project employees are also indexing the journal content in terms of content and structure, thus preparing it for online presentation.
Synergies and context
Implementation is being carried out within the e-lib.ch: Swiss Electronic Library, project, with financial support from the Swiss University Conference and the ETH Board.
