The Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) is a persistent, unique and internationally recognised identifier for academic authors that enables researchers to be identified and their research results attributed to them.

By using and creating a link to ORCID, you are supporting the correct and complete attribution of your publications to your name and ETH Zurich.

ETH Library is your central point of contact for questions concerning ORCID and coordinating its introduction at ETH Zurich.

ETH Zurich enables members of the university to create a link to their ORCID in their personal profile on www.adressen.ethz.ch (external link).

How to create a link to your ORCID in your personal profile on www.adressen.ethz.ch:

Click on the button "link ORCID" in your profile on www.adressen.ethz.ch (external link) and log into orcid.org (external link). Agree to its import. The ORCID link will then be created automatically.

If you do not have an ORCID yet, you can register on orcid.org for free in the same step ("link ORCID").

By creating the link, you agree that ORCID is displayed in your personal profile and in ETH Zurich's People Search (external link) too and can be used in other internal applications at ETH Zurich. The aims of this usage in internal applications are:

  • Ensure research output is attributed correctly
  • Aid and simplify entry for academic reporting and of publications for display on web pages
  • Improve quality of the data in the systems.
