The bibliographical database INSPEC is published by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). The main focus is on aspects of:
- Engineering
- Information Technology
- Physics
A detailed list of the areas covered can be consulted on the IET website.
Access is provided to the content of abstracts of articles in over 4,000 journals, 2,200 conference proceedings and relevant books, reports and dissertations. The entries are classified by subject area specialists using a thesaurus maintained by the IET. The database contains over 10 million indexed abstracts and covers the period from 1898 onwards.

At the ETH-Bibliothek, the INSPEC database is accessible via the ISI Web of Knowledge portal, meaning that it can be searched at the same time as other databases.
