Vouchers for Open Access publications at the Royal Society of Chemistry

The Royal Society of Chemistry (external link) (RSC) is the publishing house of over thirty scientific journals in the field of chemistry and related subjects.

Within the scope of its licence for the RSC journals, ETH Zurich has now received fourteen vouchers for Open Access publications for the first time. The vouchers allocated for 2013 are to be administered by ETH-Bibliothek.

Members of ETH Zurich can now redeem these vouchers.

Redeeming a voucher means that your article will be made openly available on the publisher's website for free and without delay.

Authors who would like to use a voucher must prove that their article has been accepted for publication by an RSC journal. Please send the corresponding proof to ETH-Bibliothek's E-Publishing office, which will immediately provide you with your voucher code. As the number of vouchers is limited, they will be issued on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Incidentally, were you aware that you can also make your articles published in RSC journals openly available without a voucher or fee? The publisher explicitly allows authors to make the publisher's PDF available on their personal website directly after publication. Moreover, the publication of the manuscript version on an institutional repository is permitted after an embargo of twelve months. At ETH Zurich, you can use the repository ETH E-Collection (external link) for this purpose.

Further information on the Royal Society of Chemistry's Open Access guidelines is available on the publisher's website (external link).
