Legal foundation

As a rule, bibliographical metadata does not constitute works in accordance with Swiss copyright law (external link), where works are defined as follows: "Works are literary and artistic intellectual creations with an individual character, irrespective of their value or purpose." Therefore, it can generally be assumed that bibliographical metadata is not protected by copyright. However, exceptions are possible.

ETH Zurich's Disclaimer applies for open data at ETH-Bibliothek.

Licences

Wherever possible, ETH-Bibliothek uses open licences. Data provided with a CC0 licence or public domain mark can be re-used without restrictions.

Where this is not possible, various creative commons licences (external link) are used.
