Perrons Relief der Schweiz – Beitrag zum Riesenglobus
In Zurich frowned upon and later appreciated
Shortly before 1900, prominent Zurich figures tried in vain to prevent Genevan Charles Perron from constructing a relief of the whole of Switzerland. Perron’s work was to be part of a giant globe for the World Fair in Paris. Years later, the “Zurich Copy” of Perron’s model painted by ETH Zurich geologists became the highlight at the 1939 Swiss National Exhibition. Only its creator’s name was omitted!
