Photo Mosaic Switzerland
900,000 press photographs – what image of Switzerland do they paint? The new illustrated book "Photo Mosaic Switzerland" by well-known Swiss historian Georg Kreis contains a selection of around 190 photographs from the photographic agency Comet Photo AG from the second half of the twentieth century.
Not only do the images and accompanying text shine a light on the history and importance of the agency; they also place the photographs in the context of the development of society since 1950. In their work, the Comet photographers captured events and developments of places, landscapes and society in the country. Typical but also unique images produce a photographic mosaic of a rapidly changing Switzerland.
"Photo Mosaic Switzerland" is the fifth volume in the series Image Worlds. Photographs from ETH-Bibliothek’s Image Archive. The book can be purchased from the Collections and Archives Reading Room at ETH-Bibliothek, from bookshops, or the publisher Scheidegger & Spiess (external link).
