Astronomer and solar researcher
Rudolf Wolf was a key naturalist in the nineteenth century, who especially conducted pioneering research into sunspots. As a professor of astronomy at the Polytechnic Institute (now ETH Zurich), he founded the Eidgenössische Sternwarte. He was also the first library director, laying the foundation for ETH-Bibliothek's valuable old holdings.
To mark Wolf's 200th birthday, we have compiled a selection of documents on Wolf, astronomy and solar research from our holdings.
