"Himmel und Zahlen in alten Drucken"
New publication "Himmel und Zahlen in alten Drucken. Erlesenes aus der ETH-Bibliothek” presents a selection of 75 works on astronomy and mathematics. Both fields form the core of ETH Library’s collection of old books, which currently comprises a total of over 75,000 volumes of books and journals published between the 15th and 19th century.
Not only does the catalogue section tell you more about the works themselves, but also their provenance: who were the previous owners of these books and how did they end up at ETH Library?
The catalogue is rounded off with two comprehensive academic essays. The publication therefore affords an insight into the historical context of astronomy and mathematics, documented by old and rare books from ETH Library’s holdings.
It is available in the Reading Room of ETH Library’s Collections and Archives or can be borrowed via the Search Portal (external link).
