Fibonacci. Un ponte sul Mediterraneo
Leonardo Fibonacci (circa 1170 to after 1240) came from Pisa and was one of the most important mathematicians of the Middle Ages. With his book "Liber abaci" on arithmetic, Fibonacci acquainted the Western world with the Indo-Arabic numeral system. Even more famous is the Fibonacci sequence, named after him, which he mentioned in his publication by way of example.
The virtual exhibition "Fibonacci. Un ponte sul Mediterraneo" shows Fibonacci's significance for his environment and his influence on posterity. The exhibition also shows the treatment of Fibonacci numbers and the golden ratio by other authors and the occurrence of the golden ratio in other disciplines like music and architecture.
